| Roberto Diago displays the influence of material artists like Antoni Tápies or Alberto Burri. Although he works with rough materials like planks, burnt sticks and cardboard and sheets of oxidised metal, he is not afraid to use more sophisticated supports. Video and photos provide a face and voice to the central motive of his work: the Black experience and its manifestation in Cuban society. The result is Arte Povera lying somewhere between the gallery and social work, a criticism of the values of consumer society. |

Roberto Diago muestra influencia de artistas matéricos como Antoni Tápies o Alberto Burri. Aunque trabaja con materiales crudos, tablas, cartones y palos quemados, planchas de metal oxidado, no teme emplear soportes más sofisticados. El video y la fotografía conceden así voz y rostro al motivo central de su obra: la negritud y sus manifestaciones en la sociedad cubana. El resultado es un arte povero, entre la galería y el trabajo social, crítica a los valores de la sociedad de consumo. |
