| Ernesto Leal starts from reality but maintains a light manipulation of it. With a change of focus or perspective he changes it not into the unreal but the abstract. A proposal like Identidad imposible (Impossible identity) is based on the fact that the right side of our body is not equal to the left. The artist takes each side and reproduces them in a mirror thus creating two very distinct people although the original can still be perceived form the common likeness. He uses the absurd as a strategy to question the essence and appearance of things. |

Ernesto Leal parte de la realidad, pero con una leve manipulación sobre ella, con un cambio de enfoque o perspectiva, la transforma, no en irreal sino en abstracta. Una propuesta como Identidad imposible se basa en que el lado derecho de nuestro cuerpo no es igual al izquierdo. El artista toma cada uno y lo duplica en un espejo, creando así dos personas muy distintas, aunque el original aún se perciba desde la semejanza común. Usa el absurdo como estrategia para cuestionar la esencia y la apariencia de las cosas. |
